Which Bike?

If you are unsure of which type of bicycle you want to buy here we have a few suggestions that may help in the decision process. If you are like a lot of us and have not owned a bicycle since you were a kid, well, they still have two wheels . . .

 

This is meant as a simple description as to what a particular type of a bicycle is used for. Some can have multiple uses and some, of course, are for a particular use only.

Road Bikes

As you might have guessed, these are for road use only. Many refer to them as racing bikes, but in fact there are many different styles of racing bikes. There are different styles of road bikes which depending on your needs you may choose one over another.

Mountain Bikes

Again you may have guessed these are for riding off road and while this is true, you most certainly can ride a mountain bike anywhere on any surface. There are many styles here as well. From your true racer, downhill or cross-country, to free-ride styles for the extreme riders, to your recreational trail rider.

Comfort, Family, Beach Cruiser bikes

This is your type of bike for casual riding. Most who will choose one of these styles of bicycles are looking just to get out on a bicycle path or a beach board walk and enjoy pedaling a bike again. Some have gears in case you live where it’s hilly. Most have big comfortable seats and put the rider in an upright and more casual riding position. The bike just to get you going again.

BMX and Kids Bikes

BMX bikes. It's what your preteen and teenager want, well that and a new Play station, Ipod, cell phone, oh, and get ready for . . . cars. These are fairly simple, get the one for Dirt Dumping or the one for Freestyle, though there are other styles these will be the more common ones.
